Designed for medium size dedicated cinema rooms, the MX-10 presents the next level of modular home cinema performance, housing the same Krix waveguide and mid-bass driver of its bigger brother, the MX-20.
The MX-10 comprises of five modules, all of which are the same height and a slim depth of just 205mm for simple installation into a wall cavity. The front baffle of each module is covered with an acoustic absorbent material to absorb any sound reflecting off the back of the screen or the room itself. This assists greatly with the acoustic treatment of the room to ensure better intelligibility and overall sound performance.
The main speakers feature a 255mm bass-mid driver which has a 50mm voice coil developed to offer low harmonic distortion, especially in the critical midband.
The high frequency drive unit is a damped, high power, 26mm doped fabric dome tweeter, coupled with a proprietary Krix waveguide, for optimum dispersion over the entire working bandwidth. Each subwoofer contains a large 305mm paper cone driver with a 50mm long throw voice coil developed for high level, low frequency reinforcement.
For the ultimate cinema experience at home, play it through Krix.
During our last visit to the Krix factory south of Adelaide, we had the pleasure to sit in their Theatre room and get thoroughly pounded to within an inch of our lives by the ridiculous MX-40 System.
As a kid I would watch Dr Who on a 10’’ black and white TV. A quick trip in the Tardis and now here is this behemoth setup of mind blowing capability. It’s incredible how far home entertainment has travelled.
The effect of the immersive soundscape is not unlike being on some kind of a ride at the Royal Adelaide Show. One that tips you upside down, rolls you sideways and empties the loose change from your pants. But this ride is actually good, really, really good.
For those who have or are planning a dedicated Theatre room, there is nothing that you will want for with the MX-40. It will outperform your local commercial cinema hands down. Tuned for optimal seating position you will be pulling Spiderman’s webs off the back of your head for days.
Krix has a serious range to consider too. Besides the MX range there is the smaller room option in the SX range. And the X range for cavernous spaces. Plenty of spec options to suit varying budgets.
To have an Australian developer, manufacturer and installer here in Adelaide is absolute gold. The care and passion behind Krix is admirable and I cannot imagine a better Theatre System.
